Our Story

A home carved into
the Kumaon hillside

Perched above the village of Hartola, Himtattva is a small, boutique homestay where terraced fields fall away into forested valleys and the snow-clad Himalayan range rises on the horizon. Every room looks out onto that view.

We built Himtattva around the idea of "tattva" — essence. Stone walls, wood-fired warmth, home-cooked Kumaoni meals and unhurried mornings on the terrace, with nothing between you and the mountains but birdsong and mist.

Our cottages are built the traditional Kumaoni way — local stone, slate roofs and timber windows — wrapped in ivy and orchard trees, so the architecture never competes with the view. Every corner is designed to slow you down.
